Working in a hotel that attracts tourists from all over the world, Desmond enjoys meeting them and learning about their culture. It’s also part of the job that he has to deal with all kinds of issues and requests from his guests. “I remember one day where a guest succumbed to some mental disorder and went crazy. Her friends were terrified of her so I stepped in, tried to calm her down and called for the resident doctor. Oh his advice, I sent her to the nearest hospital.” This is just one of the many incidents Desmond encounters on a daily basis. It is no surprise then that Desmond counts solving problems as his forte.

Unforgettable college memory:
The time I stabbed myself in the leg with a kitchen knife. I had just received a new knife set for kitchen practical. I had no idea it was so sharp that it cut through by bag. When I placed the bag on my leg, I cut my leg real bad and tons of blood started oozing out and flowing down my leg as I walked to the clinic. I got six stitches for it and the scar is still there to remind me of how I stabbed myself.

Definitely the two-week study tour to France. It was the first time our whole class – there were 40 of us - got to travel together and during the trip we became very close.

When my friend decided to study hospitality, I joined him.

I also got involved in organising camping trips, sports days and I was one of the lucky one who lead a catering team at one of Alliance Francaise events!"
